Online Sales and E-Commerce Head

This position will drive the implementation of online marketing, e-commerce and all social media projects here at Chumbak. The ideal person should have a strong understanding of the critical factors that contribute to building a successful ecommerce business, including customer experience, merchandising, site performance and back office operations.

Position Overview: To maintain all online initiatives and drive sales through our online web store. Simple :)

Responsibilities: ( The work part )

Continued development of Chumbak.com
Work with internal management and/or external online agencies to handle SEO, SEM, and other 3 and 4 letter short forms.
Develop a plan that meets established revenue goals.
Develop an awesome email database and epic marketing campaign
Continue consistent, relevant social media strategies to increase brand awareness.
Manage on-line product inventory, images and content.
Coordinates on a daily basis with designers, IT and warehouse to ensure e-commerce operations are running smoothly and store content is kept up to date.
Manage and report on-line metrics, ROI and established sales goals.

Manage an online Customer Service Representative Team to provide exceptional online customer service.

Qualifications:

You have to be awesome at what you do
6-8 years of web based/ecommerce project management
Ability to project manage all on-line projects and objectives
Full understanding of front end and back end web technology and storefronts
Ability to give gyan to people on our awesome Chumbak web store
Professional and creative writing skills
Must exhibit a passion for the company’s Mission, Principles, and Values. Meaning - Must be able to make fun your business.
Expertise in Excel, Word, Online Storefronts, SEM, SEO and other short forms.

Asha Negi Chumbak - My Most Embarrasing Moment in school was - ” once in an Assembly , The Speech of the Principal was so long and boring I couldn’t bear more and Shitted in my White Skirt which apparently became Brown …. I had to run like a Mad ninja to the toilet.. I Was in 5th Std. ..Sooo Embarrasinggg” :/

Iswarya Laxmi My most embarrassing moment was during a prize giving at annual day celebrations.The whole school and the parents were there.I was sitting at the front row beside the stage and they announced a special award for most active student of the school and they said my name so I went up to get it and it turned out it was some other girl but I had hear the name wrong! The worst was having to walk back to my seat because everyone was whispering about it! I’ll never ever forget that incident! :(

Dimple Java I was very mischievous during my school days. In the fourth grade I, along with a few boys from class used to climb mango trees to pluck raw mango from a tree from someone’s private compound. And one day while plucking the owner of the house just came out to see what was the noise about. Seeing the owner all of us jumped from the tree. The guys landed safe and sound but while jumping the skirt of my school uniform was left hanging on one of the branches of the tree and I had landed without it!! :O :P

Nehal Tiwari Oh my god, I have so many. I used to come back home walking from school. Once my tunic got stuck in my bag and I realized that only when I came back home, I was nangu pangu from behind all the time, throughout the way.

Pratibha Pal I was a really naughty kid. My mom has been called to the school for various reasons - Me scaling the wall of the school to pluck a guava and not being able to climb back and I cried till the sports teacher pulled me back , dragging a boy by hos collar and beating him because he talked in class and did not listen to me ( I was made the monitor of the class and I had to ensure that no one talked). I forgot the famous pledge right in the middle of the assembly, just a few I can remember!

Oh well, and life is a full circle, I got a call two weeks ago from the kindergarten informing me that one of my twin boys was creating a havoc in class and not letting the other kids study. I shudder to think of the future.

Poonam Sharma Oh Darnnnn U Made Me Go Back To The Memory Lane Where In Grade 9th I Was Part Of The Team Where There Was An Interschool Competition Of Badminton - Doubles & I Along With A Mate Were Qualified for Finals. Due To the Nervous Wreck Me…While Hitting The Cork With My Badminton I Lost Grip of It And It Flung And The Badminton Hit The Opponent Team Fellow. It Hurt Him Real Bad…And I Just Wanted To Disappear……With Tears Rolling Down My Cheeks i told Him Sorry And After Almost 10 Days He Came Up To Me Proposing :) ♥ I Was His First Crush..So Not All That Bad Ehhh…!! :D ;) ♥ Crashed His Temple…Lost The Match…But Won A Heart…!! :D ♥

Shreeya Pawar My dad was a haircut enthusiast. To put his skill to test he used to cut my hair till 5th grade. In one such experiment he managed to give me a nice fringe but in contrary he did a bad job back, which he had to eventual shave off all my hair almost half of my crown from back. I was pissed off but he said it’s a new haircut and convinced it’s in fad. I was butt of all jokes the next day at school and a guy nicked name me as “Elneer” ( which means tender coconut in English). I turned out to be a walking sliced coconut for couple of next few weeks. Well, why Chumbak. That’s a great question. We’re a fun startup. We’re totally non corporate-y :) We make fun products. We love color. SALES MANAGER

Reporting into one of the founders, this job is based out of Bangalore. We’re looking at someone with 5-7 years of work experience in some really awesome sales roles.

Needs to have relevant experience in lifestyle and fashion products. Other sales experience is also cool.

Graduate with an MBA would be great. Your KRA’s would be the following:

To develop our sales strategy
To increase our overall distribution in all our various trade channels
Ensuring great display at all our stores
Coordination between category and product marketing teams

Samosapedia and Chumbak: New Chaddi Buddies!

Was it love at first sight? The families could immediately tell that the [love-couples] would get along. Samosapedia shot that [sidey] look, and Chumbak blushed. Then Chumbak pretended to walk away but Samosapedia held Chumbak firmly yet gently by the wrists, coaxingly almost. Chumbak said “Chumma don’t bak bak”, while Samosabrows shot up, “[Ushoo]!” When the families finally obliged and gave the young ones their space, not a moment was wasted. Ideas flowed, sparks flew, and various brightly painted cups ranneth over, [then and there]. Hands were grasped, shaken, and the deals were made.

Hardly a week had passed, with Chumbak working furiously and diligently, when Aunty [Logolakshmi] fixed Samosapedia with one stare and said, “So, when are you giving us the [good news]?” Well, if it’s good news you want, here it is: You shall have tins! You shall have posters! You shall have all sorts of fancy, hilarious items, freshly minted from the synergistic union of Chumbak and Samosapedia. This is only the beginning. We here at Chumbak absolutely love Samosapedia, and we know the feeling is mutual. Look how the lovely pair is simply glowing. Star crossed means star crossed.

Pinky Balani It’s since long (8yrs) we r together…. First we became friends, he was my best friend, that time we both had crush on each other, but afraid of telling each other our feelings… We usually go the college canteen and have a cup of hot tea & a pack of kurkure together, That time I noticed that he was continue staring at me behind his cup of chai… I like that moment most… There was some sort of happiness (gudgudi) mooches in my whole body…. As time passes by after 4 yrs he proposed me when we were abt to complete the colleges and start our career. That was 25th August.. (before 1 day of my b’day) it was raining heavily… we both were in a garden (Ashok udyan), suddenly he hold my hand and confess in front of me that how much he love me from the years… Hi face was so cute and innocence that time… that I started crying… With tears in my eyes I accept his proposal saying “budhu i was waiting for this from a long time, I love u too baby” & now we both are going to tie the knots of our life in April as we got engaged recently in Sep’11 after so many of castiesm problems and many many obstructions…

Hirak Kapasi Our relationship started when we were 5 years old and in the same school / section in 1st standard. We were best friends and shared our crayons/colour pencils and water bottles. That according to us was the most special love ever. According to his mom, he used to make little chits with my name written on it ans throw it out of his window hoping I would someday read them and talk to him. As we grew up , we became painfully shy and grew apart only to meet through orkut once again after 15 years later and the first question he asked was - ” Are the same girl on whom I had a crush on when I was 5 years old? ” Those words still echo in my heart everytime I see him and now we are into 5 years of our relationship and he still loves me innocently and completely as he did 20 years ago. ♥

Although I was unsure of him at first, we did start dating.

3 Things I made me decide this was FOREVER:

1. Obviously he was AWESOME !!!

2. He proposed by hiding a note in a Kit Kat chocolate (inside the silver foil, neatly cut and put back together), asking “Will You Be my Girlfriend” ( How could I say no ??? )

3. While taking a walk at a nearby park (late in the evening), we were discussing Spiderman (I think) and I said “I loved the Upside Down kiss in the first movie”

He then asked me if I would kiss him if he did the same thing, I didnt think he was serious and said ‘Yes, why not?’

He climbed on the tree with a low branch upside down and asked for that kiss…(What do you think I did !!! ehehhahaha )

That is when I realized I never want to kiss anybody but this crazy boy who would do anything for me, even if he means hanging upside down from a tree……

Claudelle Monis My Pyar Vyar story is actually with my daddy. Dad was one of those workaholic pops that came home just in time to hit the sack & leave early the next morning to see his first love: His office. His absence however, did not allow a father-daughter bond to really develop between us. We had a massive fallout when I was 18 because of my stubbornness and rebellion,and he stopped talking to me for what seemed like an eternity. I was too hot-headed to realise I was wrong, and he was too hurt to tell me how he felt. The animosity remained till he fell very ill in 2008 and that’s when I realised how much I really love him and that I stood a huge chance of losing him very soon. Seeing my daddy strongest with tears in his eyes,as he dealt with his illness,I ran up to him and for the first time in over a decade,I hugged him so tight and told him we’d fight his battle together and win. Fight we did,but he won in a different way. He won heaven. And everyday when I look at his photograph on my desk I remember, that my daddy is my first love and he will always stay that way.

Prarthna Shetty It was puppy love at first sight. Valentine’s day was never a big deal since I wasn’t allowed to date. But when I met N through a common friend, it did strange, shivery things to me that left me breathless. The feeling was new and exciting but I was too shy to even face him, afraid that he might not find me pretty enough! And being old school, I waited for him to take the first step. Of course all his attempts to meet me for coffee didn’t count, I was too freaked out and I always came up with a lame excuse, which pretty much led him to think I wasn’t interested in him. I even refused to tell him where I lived for fear that he might turn up and see me and realize I’m not pretty enough!(I had issues back then,sigh)

So on valentines day I decided to let him know! Instead of making things simple, I got a bouquet made of chocolate coated strawberries and cut out a HUGE red heart. THEN I disguised myself with a cap and jacket and mom’s hair extensions for a mustache(I was in tenth grade and it was my first Valentine’s and I didn’t know what I was doing and I thought it was awfully romantic :S) and by his description of his balcony’s view and the name of the locality, I hunted him down! Then I sneaked onto the terrace from the backgate(I thought my heart was gonna explode, it was beating so fast!) and left the things there for him to find. Sigh. I felt like Superman, managing to hide the things from my parents the day before and then actually building up the courage to hunt him down, then instead of meeting him, taking the pains to disguise myself(lol?) (Like I said, I had issues) :P

We had our first phone date that night! Ha! He loved it so much and I absolutely refused to meet him so there was little else he could do. We both sat on our resp terraces and talked through the night. :D
